Another simple and basic curry of Black Eye Beans prepare with East Indian Bottle Masala and with a little twist adding dried fenugreek leaves also called kasuri methi.
Ingredients 200 gms chawli soaked overnight ,then wash well pressure cook on high one whistle then low for 1 whistle
reserve the water of the cooked chawli.
1tsp East Indian Bottle masala 1/2 tsp chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1/2 tsp pepper powder 1/4 tsp asofetida (hing) 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 1 tbsp kasuri methi (,dry Fenugreek leaves)
2medium size onion finely chopped 2 tomatoes finely chopped
METHOD
Heat up some oil, stir fry finely chopped onions till lightly browned. Then add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook till soft , adding some of the cooked chawli water to help the tomatoes to cook soft and easily without getting burnt.
Add the bottle masala, chilli powder, coriander powder , pepper powder and turmeric powder. Mix well and stir fry adding some of the cooked chawli water. Then add the cooked chawli and kasuri methi. adjustbthe salt. Cook for another 5 mins. Lastly add 1/2 tsp of lemon juice..
