Chickpea Chaat – A Tangy & Spicy Delight!

Chickpea chaat is a refreshing, protein-packed snack bursting with flavours from tangy chutneys, crunchy shev, and juicy pomegranate pearls. Perfect as a light meal or a party appetizer, this dish is easy to whip up and absolutely irresistible!
Ingredients
For the Chickpeas:
300 grams chickpeas
Water for soaking and boiling
For the Green Chutney:
100 grams fresh coriander leaves
3–4 green chillies
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp pepper powder
Rock salt or regular salt (to taste)
For the Chaat:
Dates and tamarind chutney
as per taste ( store bought)
2 onions, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
½ cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
Salt (to taste)
Chaat masala (as per taste)
Pepper powder (as per taste)
Shev (for sprinkling)
Pomegranate pearls (from 1 pomegranate)
1. Prepare the Chickpeas:
Soak chickpeas for 6 hours.
Pressure cook on high for 5 whistles or 1 whistle on high, then low for 20 minutes.
Drain and set aside.
2. Make the Green Chutney:
Blend coriander leaves, green chillies, cumin powder, pepper powder, and salt with just enough water to form a smooth chutney.
3. For the chaat
In a bowl, mix the boiled chickpeas with onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves, salt, chaat masala, and pepper powder and set aside.
Spread a generous layer of the freshly made green chutney on the serving plate or bowl.
Add the boiled chickpeas mixed with onions, tomatoes, coriander, salt, chaat masala, and pepper powder. Spread it evenly over the chutney.
Pour the sweet tangy yoghurt mix over the chickpea mixture, followed by a generous sprinkle of vibrant pomegranate pearls.
Top it off with crispy shev for the perfect crunchy bite.
