East Indian Chicken Lonvas

Lonvas an East Indian Curry made with Chicken/ Mutton , vegetables like bottle gourd or a mix of carrot , radish , potato and turnip





Chicken Lonvas served with Jeera RIce / Cumin RIce


Ingredients1

100 gms onions

2 green chillies

grind to paste with little water


Ingredients 2

500 gms bottle gourd

600 gms chicken

50 gms coconut milk

2tbsp east Indian bottle masala

2 sliced onions


Method

Marinate the chicken with 1 tbsp bottle masala.

Add the ground paste of ingredients 1 to the chicken also and salt.

Marinate for 15 mins.


Add ghee to the vessel, fry the chicken lightly not completely.

Remove keep aside.

Now in the same vessel add the sliced onion and stir fry till lightly browned..

Add the bottle masala mix well, add 1/2 cup warm water, 1/2 cup coconut milk.

Add the chicken , mix well.

Add the chopped Bottle gourd and 1/2 cup water.

Add 1 and 1/2 cup coconut milk. Mix well.

Add salt to taste.

Lastly add 1/4 cup tamarind pulp and 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves.


Jeera Rice


Heat up ghee , add few cumin seeds and Shah jeera .

Add sliced onions and fry lightly browned

add the basmati rice and stir fry

Add 1 finely chopped green chilli.

Mix in chicken stock.

The water level should b 1/2 inch above the rice


Let it come to a boil . Add 1/4 tsp lime juice. lower the flame .

Cover with lid .

And cook till done.
