Kulkuls

Kulkuls are a wonderful festive treat, especially popular during Christmas. These delightful ,crunchy and sweet curls are a family favourite.



Ingredients

1 cup flour

1/4 cup semolina

1/3 cup icing sugar

pinch of salt

1/2 tsp vanilla essence

1/4 cup coconut milk or water

1 tsp ghee


Method

Sift the flour, semolina and icing sugar and mix well. Add a pinch of salt and mix again.

Add a teaspoon of ghee and mix . Now add 1/4 cup coconut milk or water and bring together to form a soft dough, if needed extra water just add a teaspoon and knead well.


Keep covered using a muslin cloth or cover with a bowl over it. Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes. Heat up oil and 2 tbsp ghee together , on low flame .


Form into kulkuls using a fork or kulkul mould .

Brush oil onto the moulds .

Form small balls,press the balls flat on the mould and with your thumb start curling .

seal the edges well.

Once the oil is hot fry till brown

Cool.

Dust with icing sugar {optional}
