A Goan Stuffed Mackerel Fry. The masala is prepared with spices , chillies , vinegar etc.
Ingredients
6 Mackerels
Make slits on both sides of the fish
Clean and wash well. Add turmeric powder, salt and keep aside for 20 mins. Wash off well again .
Ingredients for the masala
7 dry kashmiri Chillies
3 dry Bedgi chillies
1 tsp cumin seeds
4 cloves
1 inch cinnamon
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp vinegar
1 sliced onion
1 tsp tamarind ( small amount of tamarind)
2 tsp grated Goan jaggery
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Grind all this to a smooth paste adding just enough water
PS
( For extra spice in your recheado masala
you can go for 8 kashmiri Chillies and 3 Bedgi chillies
Or
7 kashmiri Chillies and 4 Bedgi chillies
Or
Only 8 to 9 Kashmiri chillies only)
Ingredients
2 medium size onion sliced
1 tbsp coconut fenni
Salt to taste
Method
Add oil , saute the onions with 1 tsp salt till translucent. Add the ground masala and cook for a minute. Switch gas off , add coconut fenni . Mix well and add salt to taste only if required.
Stuff fish on both sides of the fish with this masala. Coat the fish with rice flour and shallow fry.
